Internet Resource Manager(TM) 3.5 Provides Solution for Enterprises Managing Explosive Internet Usage

Today, Sequel Technology, developer of Internet resource management solutions, announces the release of its newest enterprise-level software, Internet Resource Manager(TM) 3.5.

Internet Resource Manager(TM) 3.5 is a direct descendent of Sequel's flagship product, Sequel Net Access Manager 3.0., and gives IT and business managers the ability to manage, monitor, and predict the explosive growth of IP traffic across their enterprise environments.

According to Stephen Elliot, senior analyst with In-Stat Group, "As companies continue to open their networks to the Internet, access costs and legal safe-keeping issues abound. The ability to understand who is using the network, how often, and how much it is costing, is valuable information for large enterprises. By delivering this new version of Internet Resource Manager, Sequel is providing a comprehensive and scalable solution to manage Internet access."

American General Finance (AGF), a $9 billion subsidiary of American General Corporation and one of the nation's leading providers of financial services, has been using Sequel's technology for nearly two years and plans to upgrade to Internet Resource Manager 3.5 later this month. As one of the largest consumer finance companies in the world, AGF provides loans, retail financing, and other credit related products to more than 2.5 million American families. "Two years ago, we didn't even know if granting our employees Internet access was necessary. Now it's a vital part of our daily business," explains Andy Higgins, Lead Webmaster for AGF. "Sequel's Resource Management software has helped us understand helped us understand what infrastructure specifications need to be in place to accommodate this growing demand on our network, while ensuring that employees aren't misusing their Internet access. We are very eager to implement Internet Resource Manager 3.5 because its enterprise scalability meets our needs for increasing the number of employees we grant access to the Internet."

"This new version of Internet Resource Manager is the culmination of Sequel's successful effort to address customer problems and provide a tool that is enhanced and updated to reflect the dynamic requirements of the rapidly-growing enterprise market," explains Rob Savette, CEO of Sequel Technology. "Internet Resource Manager 3.5 provides business and IT managers with an electronic line of sight into how Internet resources are being used in their environment. As a result, these managers can effectively manage the impact of the network's usage on the enterprise's core business and establish usage policies that reduce the total cost of Internet ownership."

The enhancements in the new version of Internet Resource Manager specifically focus on feature and architectural issues. Internet Resource Manager 3.5 supports tens of thousands of users and is capable of logging millions of transactions a day. At the feature level, Internet Resource Manager 3.5 links to RAS usage and provide enterprises with the valuable information and reporting necessary to implement internal IP billback. Internet Resource Manager 3.5's clear reporting, superior architecture and seamless integration with enterprise management applications make it a comprehensive, scalable and extendable Internet resource management solution for large enterprises.

Internet Resource Manager provides monitoring agents that identify and log all IP activities flowing across critical network access points such as firewalls, proxy servers and routers, without impacting network performance. Internet Resource Manager uses standard interfaces to seamlessly integrate with the rest of the enterprise and includes an extensive and extensible suite of reports that address every aspect of IP traffic flow through an organization to provide a complete view of IP usage. Instead of listing cryptic IP addresses in reports, Internet Resource Manager links traffic usage and user names to generate clear and easy to understand reports. Because Internet Resource Manager uses existing central directory services such as NDS, LDAP, and NT to obtain profile information, there is no need to manually update user information and departmental structure. Additionally, Internet Resource Manager supports environments including UNIX, Oracle, and IBM (DB2) and works with popular enterprise network management tools such as Computer Associate's Unicenter.
