September! The season itself seems to be infused with the essence of back-to-school: new clothes, new friends, and new ideas. It’s a good time to take stock of what you know and what you want to learn. Small wonder that so many industry conferences take place in the fall. We look forward to meeting up with our industry associates at Brainstorming, Apartment All Stars seminars, and other regional trade shows each year. But if you can’t always get away from the office or if there’s no room in the budget for another plane ticket, don’t despair, class is in session nearly every day and no further away than your computer screen.
Discussion groups, industry blogs, facebook pages, and even LinkedIn all provide ample opportunity to jump in on the conversation, monitor industry trends, and hear fresh new ideas. We’re constantly amazed at the breadth and depth of ideas we see represented on discussion boards hosted by LinkedIn groups and sites like Multifamily Insiders. And even if you’ve never tweeted in your life, you really should set aside an hour every Friday for the #AptChat weekly apartment chat.
