Rumor has it that Research in Motion (RIM) is working on a BlackBerry tablet to rival the Apple iPad. The gadget has been internally codenamed the BlackPad and is expected to be released by the end of the year. The BlackPad will have approximately the same dimensions as the iPad, although some have reported it to be slightly smaller and thinner. A couple features the BlackPad has that the iPad doesn’t: a camera and the ability to make a phone call through Bluetooth. I have been finding conflicting reports on whether or not it will support flash, but how can it not? Since the lack of flash capabilities has been the biggest complaint with the iPad, I would imagine that BlackBerry knows they will have to satisfy this demand to compete.
So now all the apartment managers who are trying to decide whether or not to use the SiteTablet for leasing and other property management functions will soon have one more decision to make: iPad or BlackPad?
Are you an Apple or BlackBerry loyalist? What would the BlackPad need for you to buy one? I’m interested in hearing thoughts on this one!

If Blackberry can introduce something bigger and better, I’m all for it. Good for them for taking on Apple.

It’s funny that apple makes products that it wants and then other companies get the idea to copy and improve what they have done. Haven’t they learned that Apple sets the standard and improves on that every quarter or does microsoft not remember the zune? Also for those clients that haven’t tried the site tablet get it PSI has made the leasing agent a rock star in the sales market.

Agreed. I am also pretty sure that Apple does this on purpose to maximize profits. I imagine we will see iPad’s in the future that have flash capabilities, cameras, and maybe even USB and DVD drives. Thanks for the comments!

Much like other products, Apple had to make the switch to allow for flash. Otherwise competitors would have surpassed in # of users (i.e. Andriod).
Having used the iPad on a regular basis, I won’t consider purchasing one because of the lack of a flash browswer. Someone impress me! (Dear Blackpad, I will graciously accept a sponsorship.)

I’m eager to see what the HP Slate will look like. The iPad is really doomed in the long term, in my opinion, if Apple continues to refuse to support flash. There’s too much content out there that is flash delivered. 10 years from now, iPad users will still be annoyed about the lack of flash support, and you know there’s going to be some amazing tablet devices released in very short order.
Apple has some amazing products–no doubt, but the hubris of Steve jobs is going to start hindering Apple in the market place.
